The primary issue of a company's issues is designated based on the following criteria:
- Is an issue part of an index? Any index issue will be the primary issue.
- Is an issue followed on multiple exchanges? The US exchange will be the primary issue.
- What is the trading volume of the issue? The highest average trading volume is considered over several months.
Note: The primary issue of stock is the company-level ticker symbol. All fundamental data is associated with the company-level ticker. Market data is available on an issue-level for both primary and joiner classes that are publicly traded.
